Liberal comedian Bill Maher slammed former President Barack Obama on Friday for his recent comments on the Israel-Gaza conflict.
As previously reported, during a recent event, the former president called the war a “moral justification for all of us,” called for Israel to end its so-called “occupation” of Gaza, and also stated “we are all accomplices” based on recent events in Israel/Gaza.
“What Hamas did was horrible and there is no justification for it. And what is also true is that the occupation, and what is happening to the Palestinians, is unbearable. If you want to solve the problem, you have to understand the whole truth. And then you have to recognize that no one has clean hands, that we are all complicit to a certain extent,” he said.
The remarks prompted a massive backlash, including from conservative commentator Megyn Kelly, a legal expert Alan DershowitzRep. Ted Cruzand now Maher, who attacked Obama during Friday’s edition of HBO’s “Real Time.”

“I have to say, I’m still struggling with the moral equivalence of people. I mean, Barack Obama, who has rarely disappointed me, did that this week. His statement, I mean, it’s not a horrible statement, but he said, “If you want to solve the problem, you have to take the whole truth and then you have to admit that nobody’s hands are clean,” he said.
“Literally that’s true, of course. But just giving two examples where that is, I don’t think that’s a useful statement at this point. First of all, the attack was only a month ago. The most savage attack we’ve ever seen seen backwards. There’s a big difference between the collateral damage and what Hamas did,” Maher added.
This is a point that many pro-Israel supporters have made and continue to make: while Hamas proposes targeting more than 1,300 Israeli civilians for murder on October 7, Israel has “accidentally” killed an unknown number of Palestinians while targeting Hamas.
Israel’s supporters argue that, while unfortunate, this collateral damage must be accepted because it is the only way to defeat Hamas given that the terrorist group likes to hide and hide its arsenal among the civilian population of Gaza.
Destroying a Hamas command center after warning all civilians in the area to leave is correct. Hamas hides behind civilians. Should that grant them immunity? If so, you’ve created a massive incentive for them to hide behind civilians. Many MORE civilians will die over time. https://t.co/jqcp6taDGA

“Secondly, the Israelis are now on a four-hour pause for people to come out. So people are like, ‘oh wow, that’s great.'” Okay, but it’s a war that the other side started! It’s very interesting. When they shot [at] Israel It’s a war. When Israel reacts, it is a war crime. Kind of crazy… Also, would Hamas do it? Will they take four-hour breaks? No, no pause,” Maher continued.
“And then Israel’s heritage minister was asked in an interview about using a nuclear bomb on Gaza. And he said ‘that’s one of the possibilities.’ He was fired, he was no longer allowed at the meeting of the Council of Ministers, disallowed by the Prime Minister. Would this happen in reverse? So enough with the moral equivalences, please,” he added.
During a panel discussion, the liberal comedian reminded other participants that Hamas is driven by what he called “Islamic fanaticism.” Fox News.
“You’re not supposed to talk about it anymore because if you do, even realistically, it becomes Islamophobic. But it’s true! Hamas people who kill their own people think they’re doing them a favor because they’re making martyrs. That’s a different kind of situation to have to deal with than Israel has that most people don’t have,” he said.
Appearing on Fox News a day earlier, the non-radicalized eldest son of Hamas co-founder Hassan Yousef said something similar, telling Fox News host Sean Hannity that, despite the left’s claims, Hamas is not a political party but a religious movement. waging a holy war.
“If Hamas was a political party, then we are [could] put pressure on them, bring them to the negotiating table where they can compromise. But Hamas is a religious organization. No one can satisfy their religious ambition because it is a condition of their charter,” he said.

Back to Maher, he also criticized 750 journalists who had signed a letter encouraging newsrooms to start using terms like “apartheid” and “genocide” to talk about Israel’s alleged mistreatment of Palestinians.
“They couldn’t be more pro-Hamas. They say they want the wording to adopt words like “apartheid”. I hear it all the time anyway, it’s bad. And I hear “genocide”. Again, wrong. Israel is not trying to commit genocide. The other side, blatantly saying we would like to commit genocide against you,” Maher said.
