While the courts may not have delivered the justice he deserved, a Nevada victim of a now 80-year-old pedophile got some satisfaction when he managed to knock out the pervert after receiving a suspended sentence.
Tylor Fu, 29, was sexually abused for years as a child by Richard Gross, a family friend who helped babysit him, and his testimony against Gross helped secure a 26-felony conviction sexual abuse of a child. Surprisingly, as part of a plea deal, Gross was given a suspended sentence of 60 to 180 months by Clark County District Judge Tierra Jones and will serve no time behind bars.
Fu said he was furious with the deal and attacked Gross during the Oct. 2 sentencing, sending him to the hospital.
“I was very angry,” Fu told 8 News Now about the sentence.
Gross said he briefly lost consciousness and was taken to a local hospital, 8 News Now reported. His glasses were also broken, according to his wife. Fu was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery; it is hard to think that any prosecutor would pursue the charge.
“I know it’s old, but that doesn’t change any of that, it doesn’t change the damage it caused, the horrible effects I had to live with for decades, and it wasn’t justice at all,” he insisted.
Fu said Gross abused him from the age of eight to 15.
“It doesn’t make sense how someone can abuse a child multiple times and just walk away with no jail time,” he told the affiliate.
Now married (Fu is a father of two), he said his wife showed him a 2019 news article about sexual abuse, which led him to report Gross to the police.
In 2021, Fu filed suit against Gross and his wife for assault and battery, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence and negligent supervision.
“I really tried to put it aside and move on and be strong, but as you get older you start to realize more of what’s wrong and I saw exactly where my problems were coming from,” she explained.
“It seems like the right thing to do and I want all the kids out there to know if you’ve been, you know, sexually abused, it’s not okay and you need to report it,” Fu said of the legal action. . “We cannot tolerate the sexual abuse of children, and it is absolutely one of the worst crimes a human can commit and it must be stopped.”
