Here we go again…
I don’t think we’ll be getting rid of these Nolan/Bond rumors anytime soon, especially not when new reports keep coming.
I’ve mentioned it before, but Nolan directing Bond is something that’s being discussed. Now, The Daily Mail’s Eve Buckland is mirror my report from last month:
An insider has revealed the British actor [Aaron Taylor-Johnson]33, is very close to landing the role, with “Oppenheimer” director Christopher Nolan, 53, likely to helm the next film in the franchise.
They added of Nolan: “He’s very interested in doing something very different with the franchise. If he can get his way with the producers, then he’s all for it.”
Nolan has worked with Taylor-Johnson before — the actor had a supporting role in 2020’s “Tenet” and has mentioned in the past that he’d like to work with the filmmaker again, on whatever he does next.
The deal being negotiated would see Nolan direct two Bond films, with him also writing them. Period-specific films, potentially set in the 1960s and, yes, with Nolan overseeing full creative control.
Now, this is where most of the negotiations reside. Nolan is not one to make creative compromises, if he joins a project, he wants total control. That’s understandable, and we’re all wondering if Bond producer Barbara Broccoli will give him that.
Nolan is coming off the most successful non-Batman film of his career, “Oppenheimer,” and is also the current favorite to win the Oscars for best picture, director and actor. His next project has not been announced. Who wants to bet it’s Bond?
