Far-left activists accused of pepper-spraying protesters as they prayed outside a reportedly ‘family-friendly’ drag show; 3 arrested

Far-left activists were accused of pepper-spraying protesters as they prayed outside a “family-friendly” drag show in Fort Worth, Texas, over the weekend.

What are the details?

The incident happened outside a drag show at Fort Brewery and Pizza on Sunday afternoon, the Star-Telegram reported, citing videos posted on Twitter.

Police records show three people were arrested: Samuel Fowlkes, 20, on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; Christopher Guillott, 33, on suspicion of assaulting a peace officer; and Meghan Grant, 37, on suspicion of resisting arrest, search or transport, the newspaper said.

Members of Protect Texas Kids and the New Columbia Movement were protesting the drag show and accused members of the Elm Fork John Brown Gun Club of pepper-spraying them as they prayed, the Star-Telegram said.

The gun club describes itself on Twitter as “helping marginalized communities organize community defense against white supremacists/fascism,” the paper said, adding that Protect Texas Kids’ Twitter account says its purpose is to “expose drag shows for children, children. transitions and leftist indoctrination in the state of Texas.”

The Dallas Express said a Fort Brewery & Pizza representative described the drag show as “family friendly.”

Aaron Hoernke, the restaurant’s director of marketing, said that “accompanied minors are allowed with a parent as we believe in parental choice” and that “we are a brewery that sells pizza, wine, beer and no spirits. The vibe is that it was designed to be enjoyed by everyone,” the outlet added.

The Dallas Express added that a description of the drag show on Fort Brewery & Pizza’s website does not specifically mention children or use the phrase “family-friendly,” but does say, “This event perfect for celebrating a special occasion with friends, family or work colleagues, or simply enjoying a fun-filled day with your loved ones.” Here’s a look at the show announcement on Eventbrite.

The gun club on Twitter has accused police of “attacking drag defenders” and practicing poor muzzle discipline with long rifles by pointing loaded weapons at club members, the Star-Telegram also reported.
