A A North Carolina mother is suspected of killing her three children before turning the gun on herself.
Police say they received a call about a shooting around 11:54 a.m. and the Winston-Salem Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene, WFMY 2 News reported.

Officers had to force their way into a suburban home. Once inside, they found the bodies of 40-year-old Ethal Syretha Steele, 9-year-old Sakendra Syann Steele, 12-year-old Sakenya Syretha Steele and 14-year-old Sakenlo Shawn Steele Jr.
All were shot to death and the mother’s wounds were found to be self-inflicted. Police quickly stated that there were no suspects at large and that the community at large was not under threat.
A WSPD spokeswoman told the Washington Examiner that no other families have come forward and the investigation is ongoing.

Neighbors speaking to the press expressed their anguish at the tragedy that happened so close to home.
“This happened in my neighborhood. You don’t want to see this. You see this on the news, and … it’s another neighborhood. For this to happen here in our neighborhood is very concerning. It’s close to home,” said the neighbor Angela Terrill to WNCT 9 News.
