House Republicans voted to condemn “Tsar of the border,' Vice President Kamala Harris on her handling of America's southern border, making it the first legislation aimed directly at Harris since her nomination as the presumptive 2024 Democratic nominee.
Six Democrats joined all Republicans in approving the measure, resulting in a 220-196 vote.

Democratic lawmakers who supported the resolution are Reps. Jared Golden, Marie Gluesenkamp Pérez, Mary Peltola, Henry Cuellar, Don Davis and Yadira Caraveo.
Republicans have consistently criticized Harris for acting as “border czar” after Joe Biden tasked him with tackling the root causes of illegal immigration in 2021.
That resolution has become a focal point for GOP criticism of Harris as he prepares for a potential 2024 showdown with former President Trump.
However, the six Democratic representatives voting against Harris are a significant disapproval from within their own party, despite other Democratic lawmakers endorsing him.
During the House debate, House GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik accused Harris of overseeing policies that led to what she described as the worst border crisis in U.S. history.
House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green also criticized Harris, saying her job to address the crisis could have been solved by looking at herself.
Democrats rejected the resolution, suggesting it was politically motivated.
Left-leaning lawmakers argued that Harris' approach was to address the root causes of migration, not manage border security operations.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries emphasized that the term “border czar” was a Republican creation.
