St. LOUIS (TND) — The 15-year-old girl accused of beating Missouri teenager Kaylee Gain will not be tried as an adult. seconds at KMOV.
The gain previously faced a cognitive “significant.” deterioration after the March fight. Viral video of the incident shows Gain convulsing on the floor after his attacker slammed his head into the pavement.
A judge reportedly ruled Wednesday that the teenager accused of attacking Gain will not be tried as an adult for the crime. A juvenile officer involved in the sentencing shared the belief that the 15-year-old could benefit from programs in the state's juvenile system, according to KMOV.
Lawyers defending the 15-year-old reportedly relied on her academic record, noting that she gets good grades and has a stable family life. The student's Spanish teacher attended a hearing to discuss his academic skills.
A Change.org request calling for the teenager to be tried by the youth system has garnered nearly 2,000 signatures since it was launched in March. Gain's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment from The National Desk (TND) on Thursday.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey in March said Gain's alleged attacker “must be charged and tried as an adult.”
“This heinous, total disregard for human life has no place in Missouri or anywhere else,” Bailey said. “I'm praying for the victim.”
As part of his ongoing recovery from the attack, Gain now wears a “custom helmet” to protect his brain, according to his lawyer. While hospitalized, Gain underwent a procedure in which doctors removed part of her skull to relieve pressure on her brain.
