The GOP-led House of Representatives delivered coal to Americans' stockings as they passed a massive $886 billion defense bill before adjourning for the holidays.
Democrats successfully passed the $886 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) on Thursday, and Republicans helped them do it, despite many in the GOP openly opposing the bill that passed by 310 to 118, with 147 “yes” votes from Republicans.

Only 45 Democrats and 73 Republicans had the backbone to vote no on the bill that passed the Senate on Wednesday by a vote of 87 to 13. It now heads to President Joe Biden's desk for a signature.
Here are the 118 representatives who voted to protect your right to privacy. (No to FISA warrantless surveillance as part of the NDAA)
We lost but it was close. They needed 143 votes (1/3) to stop FISA, as they suspended the rules to bring it to the floor. https://t.co/xqMeOn8SKM pic.twitter.com/2hgHHdgY6z

House and Senate negotiators released the compromise version of the NDAA last week, removing the Defense Department's abortion policy ban and the Pentagon's ban on gender-based care funding, along with with other controversial provisions.
147 Republicans just voted to reauthorize the 702 FISA program that was used to illegally spy on President Trump

“House and Senate negotiators released the compromise version of the NDAA last week, removing a ban on the Defense Department's abortion policy and a ban on Pentagon funding for gender-based care, along with other controversial provisions,” The Hill reported. “Conservative lawmakers also opposed the inclusion in the NDAA of an extension of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) through April 19.”
Unsustainable
Republican leaders are playing with fire. You cannot terrorize a citizenry and make them poorer every day and expect them to obey. Republican leaders are complicit in the intentional downfall of America.

“We've sold you,” rep Tim Burchett announced in a post on X.
He explained in a video message that he was addressing Congress to vote against the “horrible piece of legislation” and declared that “unipartisanship is real.”
We sold you. The #NDAA allows #FISA pay for sex reassignment surgery and cover #uap and spends more than $886 billion. pic.twitter.com/QrsGAWI45Q

The controversial Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) ended up being included even though President Mike Johnson seemed flip flop by including it.
“Surveillance of American citizens, trampling on our most precious constitutional freedoms in this unreformed country,” said Rep. Bob Good (R-Va.). “The NDAA is a bad bill, attaching it to FISA makes it that much worse. Every Republican should vote against it.”
Dear Americans,
For Christmas, you get an extension of mass surveillance stuck in a “mandatory” bill. welcome
Sincerely,
congress

“America: Be sure to let your voices be heard this morning … no member of Congress, D or R, should flag a continuation of the surveillance apparatus that has allowed abusive spying,” the Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) he wrote to X before the vote.
U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said the bill was “inadequate” to deal with the Pentagon, which has “turned substantially to the left.”
“With this NDAA conference report, you almost feel like a parent who sent their kid to summer camp and they come back a monster,” Gaetz said.
I regret opposing the FY24 NDAA because there is so much good in it.
But only in Washington must we introduce a bill so that we can confront China militarily, while embracing the policies that make America… pic.twitter.com/SNPCOskkkd

“I think it's a blatant statement that more Democrats voted for it. That's exactly right. That's a big deal,” Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., told DailyMail.com.
Other reactions have reached social networks.
Bannon: @SpeakerJohnson, your intentions don't matter. The only thing that matters is your human agency and what you provide.
Don't give me your biblical worldview. I saw it in the NDAA. Your biblical worldview is manifested there.

I love our military. That's why I voted for the NDAA passed this summer under President McCarthy that included a 30 percent pay raise for the youngest members of the military.
But the NDAA negotiated by President Johnson, Chuck Schumer, Mitch McConnell and Hakeem Jeffries eliminated that salary…
