The alleged footage of the shooting circulated on social media, revealing the chaotic and disturbing scene as park-goers fled amid the gunfire.

Details about the victims and the circumstances leading up to the shooting, including the number of perpetrators involved, were not readily available.

Rochester Police Capt. Greg Bello addressed the media, stating, “At this point, we don't know how many people were shooting. We're trying to work our way through as many witnesses as we can.” Law enforcement authorities later confirmed they were chasing multiple suspects, although the exact number of gunmen was not disclosed.

Rochester Police Chief David Smith stated during a press conference: “We're looking for more than one person. I can't clarify or quantify whether they were part of this gathering or whether they came from outside.” The identity of the dead victim was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

Late Sunday night, investigators meticulously combed the crime scene and examined ballistics evidence in the vast field. Bello appealed to the public for videos and tips that could help authorities in their ongoing investigation.

“Anything he decided, on a Sunday afternoon when everybody's having a barbecue, having a good time, he decided to pull a gun for whatever reason, whether there's a dispute, short term, long term, whatever… Someone who pulled out a gun is obviously incredibly unacceptable in our society,” Bello remarked.

As the search for the suspects continued, Chief Smith issued a stern warning: “To the people who did this, we will see you.” Maplewood Park, where the tragic incident took place, is known for its “stunning panoramic views,” according to the city's website, making the shooting all the more shocking and harrowing.
